Cristina Vezzaro

Cristina Vezzaro holds a Masters’ Degree in Translation from the University of Geneva (1994). She has translated German, French and English fiction, non-fiction, poetry and theatre plays into Italian (amongst others Fouad Laroui, Ulrich Peltzer, Kathrin Röggla, Sherko Fatah, François Vallejo, Aldo Naouri, René Pollesch, Nigel Farndale, Maxi Obexer). In 2013, L’esteta radicale by the Prix Goncourt de la Nouvelle recipient Fouad Laroui was awarded the Premio Alziator in her translation. Her own work has appeared in Italy (short stories in Lingua Madre, Novel) and in France (poetry). As a storyteller she has won a Moth story slam in New York City. She runs a flash fiction site and has advocated for the visibility of translators in her blog Authors and Translators. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Translation Studies at the University of Ghent in Belgium.
